I'm VERY proud of this one

For the record, I have no idea where they are, so don't ask.

The original file is FREAKING ENORMOUS! It's a bit too big to upload to dA (what with its annoying Auto-Resize), so I just decided to give you guys the smaller version. Usually I just upload the original file so you guys can view it at the same resolution I did, but I feel this looks a bit better farther away than close up. But if you guys want the enormous file then just say the word and I'll make it!

And yes, I know full well I just uploaded another image of these two, but I love them so freaking much I don't care anymore. There are quite a few mess-ups here and there (the most obvious being Cosmos' legs are just plain weird) but those can be explained by me giving up entirely and just making sure they're THERE. The Lineart took forever, especially Cosmos. Why is that adorable little brick of a robot so freaking hard to draw!?

But anyways, I'm loving the coloring style I used for this. I've been messing with masks and painted-style coloring, and boy did it turn out amazing! I'm loving the colorization style I used, and the technique I made up on the spot for coloring effects. I had to make one layer of a solid purple color as the basis for the tone of the shading color, a nice looking mauve blue to mess with to add some spice to the dark-ish purple (opacity for the win), and one supah-bright cyan color for the highlights. Normally I avoid highlights like the plague, but the lighting for this piece kinda needed some to make them fit into the image more.

The lineart is done with the pencil tool, to make it easier to fill-bucket in the colors. Me switching to the pencil tool for lineart is a LIFESAVER! I can hardly believe I went without it for so long! I had to click the 'use all layers' button for fill-bucketing their colors on other layers (since I was using masks), but it still came out awesome! I'm not sure if I remembered to turn it off though, so if there are any weirdo fill-bucket mistakes that I didn't catch, tell me and I'll be sure to fix it!

The background was tons of fun, but I'm kinda worried that it doesn't fit with the characters. I mean, their giant alien robots, and the kid's named Cosmos, so there's no reason for there NOT to be a Space Background, but I kinda tend to go overboard with effects if given the chance. I like how I did the far-away stars and space-clouds, but the random star clump that's following them (or are they following it?) is kinda bright. Should it be darker?

Well, I'm still very proud of myself for making this! For a moment I could barely believe that I made it! I've been working on this since... Tuesday, I think. And I gotta say, all that extra work certainly paid off! You can tell by my enormous artist comment, can't you?

You captured in one picture that magic of childhood dreams and care freeness. The special effects in the colors were awesome! I love the spray of stars to the left. reminiscent of fairy dust in Peter pan. And they are so happy. I don't know how you managed to capture so much in one picture but you did for the Win!
